Garden City is served by a single public district, Garden City USD 457, along with private Catholic options and a well-established community college. The district recently invested in a new high school campus, and students can earn college credit before graduation.

Public Schools

Garden City USD 457 serves about 7,235 students from preschool through grade 12 across the city and nearby communities.

• Garden City High School, grades 9 to 12, about 2,200 students, in a newer campus built through a $95 million bond
• Two middle schools: Horace Good and Kenneth Henderson
• Two intermediate centers: Bernadine Sitts and Charles O. Stones
• Eleven elementary schools plus an early childhood center
• A virtual academy and alternative education options

Academic Performance and Programs

District school ratings are moderate on common composite scales, with individual schools ranging higher. Garden City High School offers Advanced Placement courses and dual-credit classes that let students earn college credit while in high school, and the high school earned national Blue Ribbon recognition in 2012.

Higher Education

Garden City Community College, founded in 1919, enrolls about 1,900 students and is known for its Broncbusters athletics. The college offers associate degrees, career and technical programs, and dual-credit partnerships with local high schools.
