Meet the team

The pediatric anesthesia team is a fellowship-trained group practicing at Ochsner’s flagship New Orleans campus. The team works closely with the hospital and surgical services, a relationship reinforced by a monthly pediatric surgery council that brings anesthesia, surgery, and hospital leadership together. At full staffing, the service will include five anesthesiologists on the pediatric cardiac team and ten general pediatric anesthesiologists.

• 75 CRNAs in the group, five of whom specialize in pediatric patients

• Reporting structure under Dr. David Broussard, Department Chair of Anesthesia

Team Environment

The group describes a collegial culture with strong relationships across surgical specialties. Leadership continuity is a feature of the practice: the CEO of the main hospital recently assumed leadership of the pediatric hospital as well. The pediatric surgery council keeps anesthesia aligned with the surgical teams it supports, including ENT, orthopedic surgery, urology, and neurosurgery.
