Role and Practice Setting

You will join the cardiology team at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center providing outpatient cardiology care and inpatient consult coverage. The inpatient service is consult-only; the hospitalist team admits and discharges patients while cardiology provides specialty input and coordinates transfers to MedStar Union Memorial Hospital for advanced procedures such as structural heart, complex PCI, ablations, and open heart surgery.

The outpatient practice operates from a recently renovated $4 million cardiology suite on the second floor of the Franklin Square professional building. Cardiac rehabilitation, echocardiography, nuclear stress testing, EKG, and the EP device clinic are housed within the same office. The practice also serves satellite clinics in Bel Air and Perry Hall.

Service Area and Community Need

Franklin Square serves a large patient population across Northeast Baltimore, eastern Baltimore County, Harford County, and as far south as the Delaware border. The emergency department is among the busiest in the state of Maryland. Sustained population growth in the surrounding counties has driven steady demand for cardiac care.

The cardiology service is actively developing additional cath lab capacity, an EP program, and advanced heart failure capability with the goal of keeping more services local rather than routing patients to Union Memorial.

Reason for Opening

Both openings reflect a combination of practice growth, planned retirements, and recent departures. Departing physicians moved to an EP fellowship, advanced imaging, a relocation outside the region, and retirement. The current team is recruiting to return to full clinical capacity and absorb projected growth.

Qualifications

  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Cardiology
  • Non-invasive cardiology training
  • Maryland medical license or license-eligible
