Good Shepherd Ophthalmology is a new clinic, launched in 2026 and led by its founding physician. The incoming optometrist would be the first OD to join the practice, working alongside the ophthalmologist and the clinic's support team. This is an early-stage clinic within an established health system, so the optometrist joins a small, focused team with room to help shape how the practice grows.
The clinic is led by Adam Ahmadi, MD, Medical Director of Good Shepherd Ophthalmology. Dr. Ahmadi is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist with more than 20 years of experience. He provides medical and surgical care including cataract surgery, glaucoma care with surgical intervention, diabetic eye disease, age-related macular degeneration, pterygium removal, and functional ophthalmic plastic surgery.
The optometrist co-manages Dr. Ahmadi's surgical patients through pre-operative and post-operative care. As his surgical volume grows, this collaboration is central to the practice model.
The optometrist practices independently in medical optometry while coordinating closely with Dr. Ahmadi on surgical co-management. Beyond the clinic, the optometrist works within a large employed provider network. Good Shepherd's system includes primary care, endocrinology, rheumatology, neurology, and numerous other specialties, which supports both internal referrals and coordinated patient care.
Leadership has made growing optometry a stated priority and wants to increase the ophthalmologist's time in the OR. The optometrist fills a defined and supported role in that plan. Because the clinic is new, the incoming OD has the opportunity to build patient volume and establish practice patterns from an early stage.
