Good Shepherd Health Care System is recruiting a medical optometrist to join its new Ophthalmology clinic in Hermiston, Oregon. The clinic launched in 2026 under Dr. Adam Ahmadi and is growing. This optometrist will manage medical optometry along with pre-operative and post-operative care, which allows Dr. Ahmadi to expand his surgical volume in the OR.
This is a growth position rather than a replacement. Good Shepherd serves a population of roughly 100,000 across its service area, and demand for eye care is outpacing current capacity. Patient wait times currently run one to three months, and leadership has prioritized building out optometry to meet that demand.

The role is four days per week. Tuesday and Friday are the two guaranteed clinic days, when Dr. Ahmadi is in the OR and full access to equipment and support staff is available. The remaining two clinic days are flexible and shared, with an off day mid-week such as Monday or Wednesday. There is no Friday overlap conflict, and the schedule is built so the optometrist is busiest on the days coverage is most needed.
The optometrist will have strong internal referral support. Good Shepherd operates a broad employed network that includes primary care, endocrinology, rheumatology, neurology, and numerous other specialties, all of which feed medical eye care. The clinic is new and still establishing itself, so there is meaningful room to build volume within an existing patient base.
The optometrist works within the Ophthalmology service line under Dr. Adam Ahmadi, who serves as Medical Director of Ophthalmology.
