You would join a stable, collegial team of three employed gastroenterologists supported by four advanced practice providers and an experienced endoscopy and clinic staff. The physicians describe a culture built on autonomy and mutual respect, with administration providing strong support without micromanagement. The employed group also maintains an unusually collegial relationship with the local private GI practice, sharing call and coordinating coverage across both groups.
Sean E. McGarr, DO serves as the practice's advanced therapeutic endoscopist, performing ERCP, EUS, luminal stenting, EMR, cryotherapy, and PEG placements. He trained at Johns Hopkins and completed gastroenterology fellowship training at the National Institutes of Health and Virginia Commonwealth University. Ruhin Yuridullah, MD is the newest member of the group and has built a busy practice quickly.
The practice employs 4 APPs who work independently with physician collaboration as needed.
Seven gastroenterologists serve the New Bern market: three in this employed practice and four in the local private group. The two groups share weekend and holiday call, coordinate vacation coverage, and maintain a strong working relationship that both leadership and the physicians describe as one of the most attractive aspects of practicing here. The CarolinaEast medical staff also includes a dedicated colorectal surgeon and supportive general surgery, radiology, hospitalist, and critical care teams.
