Diverse Oncology Practice in a Community Setting
At Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center, you’ll practice a full spectrum of oncology and hematology in a setting that balances clinical diversity with a manageable patient load. With just 10–12 patients per day—far below metropolitan volumes—you’ll be able to provide thoughtful, personalized care while enjoying life in a stunning mountain community.
The practice receives 25–30 new patient referrals monthly, with the goal of seeing one new patient daily alongside follow-up care. You’ll build broad expertise across a wide range of cancer types while collaborating with specialists on complex cases.
- Treat a diverse range of solid tumors including breast, colon, prostate, lung, kidney, and melanoma
- Provide care for a wide variety of hematologic conditions with referral pathways for complex cases
- Maintain a balanced case mix of oncology and hematology patients
- Develop skills in rural oncology care, including coordination with tertiary centers
- Tailor your practice to personal interests within the full scope of the specialty
Collaborative Multidisciplinary Care
The practice supports a twice-monthly tumor board that brings together surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, pharmacists, and other team members to develop comprehensive, collaborative care plans. This environment fosters both optimal patient care and continuous professional development.
- Engage in tumor boards for breast, colorectal, and urologic cancers
- Collaborate with general surgeons, urologists, and diagnostic specialists
- Access advanced imaging, including upcoming PET/CT and nuclear medicine
- Coordinate with tertiary centers while maintaining primary responsibility for care
- Contribute to evidence-based protocol development for common oncology conditions
Supportive Clinical Environment
You’ll work in a newly renovated oncology clinic with multiple exam rooms, an on-site procedure room, and an adjacent modern infusion center with nine chairs, including private bays. HRRMC’s growth strategy includes plans for a dedicated oncology facility.

- Utilize a 9-chair infusion suite with oncology-certified nurses
- Access in-house pharmacy with compounding capabilities
- Leverage support services including patient navigator, dietician, and PT
- Focus on clinical care with minimal administrative demands
