Position Overview

Understanding the Role

UK King's Daughters Regional Hospital is recruiting a third cardiac anesthesiologist to support continued growth in its cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgery programs. The cardiac and vascular surgical volume has increased to the point where a two-physician team can no longer adequately cover the case load, and a third cardiac surgeon is joining the program this summer. This is a growth position driven directly by expanding clinical demand, not a replacement.

The cardiac anesthesia team works within a physician-led supervisory model. Five experienced CRNAs are assigned exclusively to the cardiac ORs, providing a structured and efficient workflow that limits administrative burden on attending physicians and allows a strong work-life balance.

Why This Position Exists

The cardiovascular surgery program at UK King's Daughters has grown faster than its anesthesia coverage can support. The addition of a third cardiac surgeon this summer necessitates the addition of a third cardiac anesthesiologist to maintain team ratios, protect the schedule of existing physicians, and accommodate increasing case volume in both cardiac and vascular surgery.
