UK Kings Daughters Health System has served as the healthcare foundation for Eastern Kentucky since 1899. In 2023, the system joined the University of Kentucky Health System, expanding its academic affiliations, access to UK Grand Rounds, and clinical resources available to employed physicians. The system is physician-led, operates quarterly leadership meetings open to medical staff, and maintains visible pathways for physicians who want to take on administrative or organizational roles.

The flagship facility, UK Kings Daughters Medical Center, is located in downtown Ashland at 2201 Lexington Ave. It is a voluntary nonprofit organization with System II vertical integration and serves a broad urban and regional catchment area across Eastern Kentucky and the Tri-State region.
