Clinical Responsibilities

The role blends outpatient orthopedic clinic work with surgical first-assist responsibilities. The provider manages a clinic panel, evaluates patients, assists in surgical planning, and first-assists Dr. Young in the operating room about one day a week.

Patient Population

The practice covers general orthopedics across all ages, from pediatric fractures to adult joint replacement, serving Laramie and the surrounding Albany County area through Ivinson Medical Group.

Clinic Workflow

  • Provider sees own clinic patients plus shared patients being set up for surgery
  • Approximately 18 patients per day in clinic
  • Three clinic days per week
  • Evaluates patients and assists in surgical planning
  • Minimal inpatient duties; occasional discharge as needed

Operating Room

  • One OR day per week, as needed
  • 7 to 12 procedures per week
  • Provider serves as surgical first assist
  • Practice mix is roughly three-quarters clinic and one-quarter OR

A da Vinci Xi robotic platform is available and referenced in the job posting.

Common Procedures

Dr. Young's practice spans general orthopedics. The APP assists across the surgeon's case mix, which includes:

  • Total and partial knee replacement
  • Anterior approach total hip replacement
  • Rotator cuff repair
  • Fracture care, including pediatric fractures
  • Hand, shoulder, foot, and ankle procedures
  • Sports medicine procedures
