Position Overview

Understanding the Role

A High-Impact Cardiology Practice in the Heart of the Mountain West

When you step into this outpatient cardiology role at Cody Regional Health, you join a community that has been waiting for you. With a catchment area spanning more than 50,000 residents across Northwest Wyoming and no other full-time cardiologist for hours in any direction, new patients currently face a four-month wait just to be seen. Your arrival changes that equation immediately. From day one, you will have a full patient base, a dedicated clinical team, and the autonomy to practice cardiology on your terms.

Meeting a Critical Community Need

This position addresses one of Cody Regional Health's top strategic priorities. The hospital's leadership has identified cardiology as the most pressing recruitment need, recognizing that the region's growing population of retirees and outdoor enthusiasts requires reliable cardiac care close to home. Without adequate cardiology coverage, patients must travel two hours to Billings, Montana, or further, for routine cardiac evaluations. You will serve as the physician who keeps that care local, building relationships with patients who will see you year after year rather than rotating through an endless queue of unfamiliar faces.

  • Catchment area of 50,000+ residents across Park County and surrounding communities
  • No competing full-time cardiologist within a two-hour radius
  • Four-month backlog of patients awaiting new cardiology appointments
  • Strong referral network from internal medicine and hospitalist teams
  • Outreach opportunities to surrounding towns including Powell, Thermopolis, Worland, and Basin

An Outpatient-Focused Practice with Genuine Flexibility

This is a 90-98% outpatient position with minimal daytime hospital consults and no night or weekend call. The clinic operates Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and you will manage 12-18 patients daily depending on acuity and case mix. Cody Regional Health offers scheduling flexibility that few hospital-employed positions can match. Whether you prefer a traditional full-time commitment, a 3-5 day workweek, part-time hours, or even a 7-on/7-off block schedule, the hospital will work with you to design an arrangement that fits your life.

  • 90-98% outpatient cardiology with minimal hospital consults
  • No night call, no weekend call
  • Flexible scheduling options: full-time, part-time, 3-5 days per week, or 7-on/7-off
  • Clinic hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Average daily volume of 12-18 patients depending on complexity
  • Immediate patient volume with no practice-building required

Your Practice Environment

You will share a modern cardiology suite with the another cardiologist while maintaining your own patient panel and schedule. This arrangement provides collegial support without sacrificing independence. Each physician operates with their own practice style, and you will have full autonomy over clinical decision-making. The hospital plans to hire an Advanced Practice Provider once you are onboard, adding further support to your team. Epic EMR, implemented through Intermountain, streamlines documentation and provides access to a broader regional network.

  • Shared cardiology suite with independent practice styles
  • Full clinical autonomy over your patient panel
  • Dedicated clinical support staff
  • APP hire planned upon your arrival
  • Epic EMR with Intermountain connectivity

Position Qualifications

Cody Regional Health seeks a board-certified or board-eligible general cardiologist who values work-life balance, community connection, and clinical independence. The ideal candidate brings a patient-centered approach and a willingness to engage with both the practice and the broader community. Outreach to nearby towns is expected, providing variety in your week and extending your reach across the region.

  • MD or DO with completed cardiology fellowship
  • Board certified or board eligible in cardiovascular disease
  • Wyoming medical license or eligibility
  • Commitment to outpatient-focused general cardiology
  • Willingness to participate in outreach clinics

This position offers the rare combination of immediate impact, clinical autonomy, and lifestyle flexibility. You will practice meaningful cardiology in a setting where your work directly improves the health of an entire region, with the freedom to design a schedule that leaves room for the life you want outside the clinic.
