Step into a world-class academic neurology environment where innovation, collaboration, and career satisfaction intersect. At UCI Health, you can choose from three distinct but equally compelling pathways in General Neurology, Memory Disorders, and Stroke Neurology—each offering the opportunity to practice at the forefront of neuroscience within one of the nation’s most desirable locations.
As a Comprehensive Neurologist at UCI Health, you will practice in a physician-centered, academic environment that respects your time, fosters intellectual engagement, and allows for long-term career satisfaction. Your primary focus will be on outpatient neurology, with optional subspecialty practice areas comprising up to 30% of your schedule. You’ll be part of a rapidly growing neurology department expanding to 59+ faculty by fall 2025, fostering a dynamic and collegial practice atmosphere.
Walk into modern clinics each morning, including a new neuroscience build-out at Chapman Medical Center, where ambient technology within the Epic EMR minimizes administrative burdens. Clinic sessions are deliberately structured with 60-minute new patient consults, 30-minute follow-ups, and an actual hour-long lunch. You’ll feel the difference in a setting that values physician wellness and clinical excellence equally.
Join one of the nation’s premier academic programs for memory disorders, rooted in the historic NIH-funded Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center and home to the landmark 90+ Study led by Dr. Claudia Kawas. At UCI, you’ll care for patients with complex cognitive disorders in an interdisciplinary setting that includes neuropsychology, psychiatry, geriatrics, and integrative health. This role supports faculty at all career stages and welcomes those with clinical or research passions—or both.
As part of the UCNS-certified Geriatric Neurology program, you’ll also have teaching responsibilities with medical students, residents, and fellows. Robust infrastructure through UCI Applied Innovations and the Alpha Stem Cell Clinic empowers you to lead or participate in clinical trials. Language fluency in Spanish, Vietnamese, or Korean is highly valued, as UCI serves a richly diverse patient population.
UCI Health’s Stroke Division offers a rare opportunity: a stroke-focused position that spans two premier campuses—an established Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center in Orange and a newly launched hospital in Irvine. You’ll manage over 600 annual ED presentations and shape the next chapter of stroke care across Orange County, supported by fellows, APPs, and a multidisciplinary team.
With a favorable inpatient schedule (16 weeks/year), you’ll also have time for outpatient stroke follow-ups, research, and teaching. Night call is taken from home and is shared equitably within a collegial division that includes respected peers like Drs. Yu, Shafee, and Lee. As the telestroke network rapidly expands to cover hospitals such as Placentia Linda and Fountain Valley, you’ll have opportunities to help build regional stroke pathways and protocols.
Whether you seek a sustainable general neurology practice, an intellectually rich memory program, or high-impact stroke care across two sites, UCI Health offers a path tailored to your clinical passions and lifestyle goals. Here, you’ll not only advance your career—you’ll thrive in a physician-centered culture committed to innovation, equity, and excellence.
