Position Overview

Understanding the Role

Making a Difference in Wyoming's Most Scenic Community

As you step into your role as a Hospitalist at St. John's Health, you'll join a small but exceptional team delivering critical care in one of America's most breathtaking settings. Each morning as you arrive for your shift, the majestic Teton Mountains provide a stunning backdrop to meaningful work that directly impacts this vibrant community. Unlike the anonymous feeling of practicing in larger metropolitan systems, here your expertise and compassion visibly ripple through a tight-knit community that recognizes your contribution to their wellbeing.

Your practice will serve the year-round residents of Jackson and the surrounding communities, as well as the influx of tourists who flock to the area during peak seasons – creating a fascinating and dynamic patient population that will challenge and reward your clinical acumen. This position fills a vital healthcare need in a region where access to specialized care is limited by geography, making your role pivotal to ensuring quality healthcare remains accessible in this mountain paradise.

  • Full-time position (1.0 FTE) with approximately 14 twelve-hour shifts monthly, providing a balanced schedule that supports your own exploration of this remarkable region
  • Joining a collaborative team of four full-time hospitalists and one part-time provider in a collegial, community-focused practice culture
  • Backfill opportunity due to a planned departure in August 2025, ensuring a smooth transition with established protocols and systems
  • Physician leadership structure with direct reporting to Dr. Marcia Lux, the lead hospitalist who values collaborative decision-making
  • Required qualifications include MD or DO with board certification/eligibility in Internal Medicine (preferred), Family Medicine with strong inpatient experience, or Med/Peds, with at least one year of attending-level hospitalist experience (more experience strongly preferred)
  • Independence and versatility are essential as you'll manage both medical-surgical and ICU patients, functioning as the intensivist during some shifts
  • Community impact that extends beyond clinical care, with opportunities to participate in community health initiatives and experience the deep satisfaction of being part of an organization that genuinely values giving back

The position seamlessly blends challenging, rewarding clinical work with a lifestyle that many physicians only dream about. Here, your professional satisfaction comes not just from the medicine you practice but from knowing that your presence makes specialized care possible in a community that deeply values your contribution.
