Role and Practice Setting

You will serve as a dedicated advanced echocardiographer within the MedStar Heart and Vascular Institute, Baltimore Region. The role combines two streams of work: intra-operative imaging during structural heart procedures and routine non-invasive echocardiography reading. Procedures supported include transcatheter aortic valve replacement, mitral valve interventions, Watchman device implantation, and complex valvular cases.

The position is structured as a mixed practice rather than a pure structural echo role. The Union Memorial structural program operates as a moderate-volume program, and the hire will balance OR-based structural imaging with the broader echo lab workload. C

Service Area and Program Context

MedStar Union Memorial Hospital anchors cardiovascular services for the four-hospital MedStar Baltimore region. Inpatient echocardiography flows through the central Union lab from Union Memorial, MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital, MedStar Harbor Hospital, and MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center. The structural heart program operates in three recently renovated cardiac catheterization labs at Union, with one hybrid suite currently in use and a second under development.

Reason for Opening

This is a replacement position. The Union Memorial advanced echocardiography team historically operated with two dedicated structural echocardiographers. The team is currently down to one and recruiting to restore full capacity.
