Comprehensive Cancer Care with the Tools to Practice Modern Oncology

Your clinical day begins at 7:30 AM in a cancer center equipped to deliver the full range of hematology and oncology services. The Meredith & Jeannie Ray Cancer Center provides everything you need to treat patients comprehensively without sending them elsewhere for routine care. Infusion services, radiation therapy, pharmacy support, and diagnostic capabilities all exist under one roof, allowing you to manage your patients' journeys from diagnosis through survivorship.

The case mix offers genuine variety. Approximately 60% of your practice currently involves hematology, with 40% dedicated to oncology, though this balance has shifted over time and may continue to evolve based on community needs. You will see the conditions that define this specialty: lymphomas, leukemias, myelodysplastic syndromes, solid tumors across organ systems, and the full range of benign hematologic disorders that require subspecialty expertise. Complex cases, including AML and post-transplant patients, remain part of your practice with coordination through tertiary centers when additional resources are needed.

The technology infrastructure supports efficient, high-quality care. Epic EMR serves as the foundation, supplemented by Abridge AI for in-room note capture. This combination reduces documentation burden and keeps your attention where it belongs: on your patients. You will spend your time practicing medicine rather than fighting with technology.

  • Daily Patient Volume: Approximately 14 patients per day
  • New Consults: 2 to 4 new patient consultations daily
  • Case Distribution: Currently 60% Hematology / 40% Oncology (has historically varied)
  • Infusion Center: All oncology and non-oncology infusions provided on-site
  • Radiation Oncology: LINAC (linear accelerator) on-site with Radiation Oncology coverage one day per week
  • EMR System: Epic with Abridge AI-powered ambient documentation
  • Tumor Boards: Multidisciplinary tumor boards and clinics based in Denver, accessible via Zoom
  • Tertiary Coordination: Complex cases including AML and post-transplant patients coordinated through tertiary centers

A Call Schedule That Respects Your Life

Call responsibilities reflect the practice's commitment to sustainable physician careers. You will take call one week per month, and the coverage is phone-only. There are no overnight hospital rounds, no emergency department callbacks pulling you from dinner, no weekend rounding requirements that consume your days off. When you are not on call, your time belongs to you.

This structure acknowledges a fundamental truth: physicians who are rested and present in their personal lives deliver better care. The outpatient model and manageable call rotation create space for the life outside medicine that sustains a long and fulfilling career.
