Position Overview

Understanding the Role

A Community in Need of Your Expertise

Your arrival in Stockton fills a critical gap in ENT care for a community that has waited too long for comprehensive services. As the only dedicated ENT group serving the greater Stockton area, Sacramento ENT provides essential care to a population of over 300,000 residents who currently face six-month waits for appointments. You will join a practice where your clinical skills translate directly into improved access for families who have limited alternatives, establishing yourself as an essential healthcare provider in a community that genuinely needs you.

The position offers the clinical autonomy and variety that drew you to otolaryngology in the first place. Your practice encompasses the full spectrum of general ENT care, treating both pediatric and adult patients across the age continuum. While the group manages routine head and neck procedures, complex oncologic cases flow to regional tertiary centers, allowing you to focus on the bread-and-butter ENT work that builds a sustainable practice. You will see patients four days weekly in the office at 10200 Trinity Parkway, with one dedicated OR day each week at St. Joseph's Surgery Center, creating a balanced rhythm between clinical evaluation and surgical intervention.

Serving an Underserved Community

Stockton and the surrounding San Joaquin County represent a federally designated underserved area for specialty care, a classification that works decidedly in your favor. The shortage of ENT services means you will benefit from an expedited pathway to California medical licensure, with the practice providing documentation that accelerates the typically lengthy credentialing process. More importantly, the community need creates immediate patient volume without the years-long practice development that burdens physicians in saturated markets. You will walk into an established referral base with demand that consistently exceeds current capacity.

Clinical Flexibility and Growth Opportunities

While general ENT forms the foundation of your practice, you will have unusual latitude to develop focused interests that might be constrained in more competitive markets. The absence of facial plastic surgeons in the region creates genuine opportunity for aesthetic and reconstructive procedures if this interests you, provided you maintain a general ENT foundation. Similarly, you can build a sleep surgery practice including Inspire hypoglossal nerve stimulation if this subspecialty appeals to you. The group already offers sleep services and will support your development in this growing field.

For surgeons interested in otology, Stockton presents an almost unprecedented opportunity. The current physicians perform basic ear procedures, but major ear surgery has been systematically referred elsewhere, creating a void you could fill immediately. If stapedectomy, tympanoplasty, and mastoid surgery represent your surgical passion, you will find eager patients and supportive colleagues who will gladly transfer these cases to someone with the skills and interest to manage them locally.

Qualifications and Structure

The position requires strong general ENT capabilities across both adult and pediatric populations, with additional training in sleep surgery, otology, or facial plastics representing valuable but not mandatory credentials. Your work schedule balances outpatient volume with surgical productivity, typically seeing 28 to 32 patients daily in the office while maintaining a robust surgical practice.

This represents a replacement position following the departure of a colleague whose practice leaned toward more complex, tertiary-level procedures. The group has strategically decided to focus recruitment on a physician committed to comprehensive general ENT care who can help address the persistent access challenges facing the community. You will function as an equal partner from day one, operating within Sacramento ENT's Stockton division, which maintains clinical and operational independence from the Sacramento offices while sharing business infrastructure and the respected Sacramento ENT name.

The practice operates with remarkable autonomy despite its affiliation with the larger Sacramento ENT organization. Your Stockton team manages its own call schedule, sets its own clinical protocols, makes independent hiring and staffing decisions, and controls day-to-day operations. You will benefit from the credibility and resources of an established regional group while enjoying the decision-making authority typically reserved for independent practice owners. This structure creates the best of both worlds: organizational stability with entrepreneurial control over your practice environment.

Your role places you at the center of specialty care for a growing region that combines the clinical volume of an underserved market with the lifestyle advantages of a more manageable practice setting. You will not compete for referrals against a dozen other ENT groups or struggle to differentiate your services in a saturated market. Instead, you will find appreciative patients, grateful referring physicians, and colleagues who recognize that your arrival strengthens the entire regional healthcare network.
