Position Overview

Understanding the Role

A Practice Where You Truly Matter

Picture walking into your clinic each morning knowing that your presence makes a measurable difference in your community. At Cody Regional Health, you will join a close-knit OBGYN practice serving women across northwest Wyoming, where patients travel up to two hours specifically to receive your care. This is a full-time, hospital-employed position offering something increasingly rare in modern medicine: the opportunity to practice comprehensive obstetrics and gynecology in a setting where you know your patients by name, deliver their babies, and see them in the grocery store years later with children who remember you as the physician who brought them into the world.

Wyoming has approximately 60 OBGYNs serving the entire state, and the majority of women's healthcare falls to family medicine providers and nurse practitioners. Your arrival fills a genuine gap in the healthcare landscape of the Big Horn Basin. Cody Regional Health's service area extends across Park County and into surrounding communities, including patients from Thermopolis, Powell, and areas approaching Sheridan. The hospital functions as the regional referral center for elevated BMI deliveries and complex gynecologic cases that surrounding family medicine practices cannot accommodate.

  • Full-time, hospital-employed OBGYN position
  • Board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology required
  • Replacement for retiring physician combined with strategic practice growth
  • Service area spanning multiple counties with patients traveling up to two hours for care
  • Reports to hospital administration with strong physician autonomy

Practice Model Built for Longevity

This position reflects Cody Regional Health's commitment to sustainable physician careers. The administration has demonstrated flexibility in structuring arrangements that work for physicians' lives, having recently welcomed a part-time colleague who works eight clinic days and seven call days per month. If you prefer a traditional full-time schedule, that structure exists. If you need creative scheduling to accommodate family obligations or outside interests, the leadership team welcomes that conversation. The consistent message from administration is straightforward: they need talented OBGYNs and will work to find arrangements that allow you to thrive.

Dr. Juliana Chisholm, who has practiced here for over eight years after training in Boston and New York City, serves as Medical Director. She came to Cody seeking escape from the hospital conglomerate culture consuming the Northeast and found exactly what she hoped for: meaningful work, genuine autonomy, and a community that values its physicians. Your arrival allows the practice to build the collaborative, team-based model that serves patients best while protecting physicians from the burnout that plagues the specialty elsewhere.

The practice operates within a shared-care model, setting expectations with patients from their first visit that they will see multiple providers throughout their pregnancy. This approach distributes workload fairly, ensures coverage sustainability, and prepares patients for whoever may be on call when labor begins. You will join colleagues who have intentionally built a respectful, collaborative environment.
