The physician team at Baylor Scott & White Family Medical Center - Terrell is characterized by longevity, mutual respect, and a genuine commitment to supporting one another. You will join colleagues who have chosen to build their careers in this community, creating a culture of stability and shared purpose that translates directly into better patient care and a more satisfying professional life.
The clinic currently includes several experienced family medicine physicians who have been with the practice for years, demonstrating the kind of professional satisfaction and community integration that makes physicians stay. These are not rotating hospitalists or transient providers but true community physicians who know their patients, understand the area, and have built durable practices.
Your colleagues practice full-spectrum family medicine with similar patient panels, creating natural opportunities for collaboration, cross-coverage, and shared learning. The team culture emphasizes mutual support during call coverage, PTO, and family emergencies, with physicians genuinely helping one another maintain work-life balance rather than viewing coverage as a burden.
The clinic employs nurse practitioners and physician assistants who function as integral members of the care team. These providers see their own patient panels, collaborate with physicians on complex cases, and contribute to the overall capacity and continuity of the practice. The APP team is experienced, clinically capable, and accustomed to the higher-acuity patient population, making them true partners in care delivery rather than simply extenders.
Each physician pod is supported by a dedicated nursing team of approximately 4-5 staff members who handle rooming, vitals, injections, phone calls, and follow-up. This model creates tight working relationships between physicians and their support staff, allowing for efficient workflows and consistent communication patterns that benefit both clinicians and patients.

The culture at Terrell is defined by several key characteristics:
This is a practice where physicians stay, support staff remain, and the team functions as a genuine unit rather than a collection of independent practitioners sharing space. You will have colleagues who answer questions, cover your call when needed, and genuinely care about your success and well-being.
The pod-based model naturally creates small working units within the larger practice, but physicians maintain regular interaction through shared patient care, specialist consultations, and informal collegial communication. There is a strong sense of "we're all in this together", with physicians viewing the success of their colleagues as integral to their own professional satisfaction.
Physicians describe the environment as supportive, non-competitive, and focused on patient care rather than individual productivity metrics. While everyone maintains their own panel and takes pride in their work, there is genuine willingness to help, teach, and collaborate when clinical situations demand it.
You will join a team that has chosen community family medicine intentionally, values the breadth and depth of primary care, and understands that staying connected to colleagues makes the work both better and more sustainable over the long term.
