Understanding the Role

We are currently seeking a dedicated Child and Adolescent (C&A) Psychiatrist to join our dynamic team of 5.5 Psychiatrists and 3 seasoned Nurse Practitioners (NPs). This position is integral to maintaining the high standard of care our patients receive and supporting the continued growth of our programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Acute Inpatient psychiatric care
  • Engage in Outpatient services (optional based on preference)
  • Participate in Residential Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
  • Conduct group therapy and individual sessions, customizable to your therapeutic style
  • Facilitate family sessions, including large group interactions followed by individual breakout sessions
  • Coordinate monthly visits to residential patients alongside the team

Current Team
At WBI, you will join a dedicated team comprising:

  • 5.5 Psychiatrists: Experienced professionals specializing in various aspects of psychiatric care.
  • 3 Seasoned Nurse Practitioners (NPs): Providing comprehensive support and collaborating closely with psychiatrists.
  • 2 Physician Assistants (PAs): Handling most History and Physicals (H&Ps) and covering the Medical Unit until 10 PM on most days.
  • Midlevel Providers: Assisting with daily operations and patient care during daytime shifts.
  • 1 Advanced Practice Provider (APP): Covering all weekends and managing admissions, ensuring continuity of care.
  • Our collaborative team structure fosters a supportive environment where each member can excel and contribute to patient well-being.

Facility Details

  • Capacity: 30-bed psychiatric facility with a focus on Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
  • Residential Services: Specialized residential facility for adolescent girls, enhancing our comprehensive care offerings.
  • Patient Demographics: Serving patients aged 5 and up, addressing a wide range of psychiatric needs.
  • Unique Position: As the only Psychiatry Hospital in Wyoming, we play a crucial role in the state's mental health landscape.

Schedule and Work-Life Balance
We understand the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Our scheduling model is designed to provide flexibility and support personal well-being:

  • Weekly Schedule: Monday through Friday with no weekend shifts.
  • Daily Structure:
  • Morning: Acute Inpatient care
  • Afternoon: Optional Outpatient services or other clinical responsibilities
  • Flexibility: Most providers focusing solely on inpatient care conclude their day by 1-2 PM, allowing ample time for personal activities.
  • Flex Time: Take advantage of long lunches, engage in outdoor activities, or manage personal errands without compromising patient care.

Call Responsibilities
Our call schedule is designed to ensure coverage while minimizing burnout:

  • On-Call Rotation: 1:4 ratio, meaning each psychiatrist is on call approximately one night per week.
  • Weekend Coverage: Managed by two moonlighting physicians to ensure no single provider is overburdened.
  • Vacation Coverage: Occasionally, the current team may need to cover weekend calls when providers are on vacation.
  • Call Duties: Primarily telephone-based, involving patient assessments and medication management with rare in-person interventions.
  • This structure ensures that you have manageable call responsibilities, promoting a healthy work-life balance.

Clinical Responsibilities
Your clinical role at WBI will encompass a variety of psychiatric services:

  • Acute Inpatient Care: Providing intensive treatment to patients requiring immediate psychiatric intervention.
  • Outpatient Services (Optional): Engage in ongoing patient care on a flexible basis, tailored to your interests and schedule.
  • Residential Psychiatry: Participate in the comprehensive care of adolescents in our residential facility, with coordinated monthly visits.
  • Therapeutic Modalities:
  • Group Therapy: Lead and facilitate group sessions, adaptable to your therapeutic approach.
  • Individual Sessions: Conduct one-on-one therapy sessions to address specific patient needs.
  • Family Sessions: Implement family-based therapeutic strategies, including managing large groups and conducting individual breakout sessions.
  • Our clinical environment supports diverse therapeutic approaches, allowing you to practice in a manner that aligns with your expertise and preferences.
